Over the late fall and early winter, Brain has been busy facilitating workshops on Youth Volunteerism for over 80 participants in commuinties all across Nova Scotia, in Ship Harbour, Sydney, Antigonish, HRM, Digby, Amherst and Yarmouth.

Building off the successful spring series of ½ day workshops for adults in the non-profit sector on engaging youth as volunteers,  these full day workshops on volunteerism included youth participants, a youth facilitator and a graphic facilitator. The program also featured a service project in each location, so that youth and adults could meet, talk and work together to learn about youth volunteering.

Participants planted trees, worked with people with physical and mental challenges, made burritos for the food bank, painted artistic images on walls, and worked with a community garden and the Deanery. Thanks to the Community Sector Council of Nova Scotia for this great opportunity for groups to explore the potential of young people to reinvigorate organizations and communities.
