Born in Yarmouth and now living in the North End of Halifax, Bria describes herself as a Queer, Black, Indigenous mixed media visual artist, activist, and musician. She works as a Graphic Facilitator across Nova Scotia and currently for the Loosen Up and Start Talking program at Heartwood. She also works as an arts educator and leads various creative workshops across Nova Scotia.

Bria believes in the importance of spaces where racialized and 2SLGBTQIAP+* artists can create together, find support and access to explore, and have their individual voices heard. She is working to organize a shared art space to center these beautiful and crucially important voices that are often silenced or outright neglected by our institutions and therefore society. In the fall of 2017, she will be the very first Artist in Residence at Wonder’Neath studio and deeply anticipates the experience.
