Jillian has worked for the Halifax Regional School Board as a teacher and consultant for the past 12 years. Her focus has been primarily supporting students from grade primary to twelve with diverse abilities and special needs, as well as their families and the teachers who work tirelessly everyday. Currently, she is on sabbatical at Acadia University, completing a Masters of Education in Counselling. She has held various volunteer positions in the city, supporting both marginalized youth and adults who struggle with mental health, employments opportunities and housing. She heard about Heartwood while working in the school system and recognized the wealth of experience and knowledge the staff has to support youth in our communities, and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of such a dynamic, and meaningful program. This will be Jillian’s third year on the board.
